Charles Henry Benoit, the third child of Mary Ann Dondanville and Lester Benoit, was born in Serena Township, LaSalle County, Illinois October 11, 1866. He was eight when the family moved to Webster County, Iowa in 1874. Charles married Hanna Coleman sometime the late 1880s. Hanna was possibly a descendant of Jeremiah Coleman and Elizabeth Dalton, early settlers in the Clare Area.

Four children were born to their marriage, Valentine in 1892, Florence in 1895, Rosella in 1897, and John about 1905. Valentine Benoit married Grace Koll in Fort Dodge. Valentine was a pharmacist. He owned and operated his own drug store in Elm Grove, Iowa. Their son, John Koll Benoit, was born in 1917. He married Jeanette Schultes, and they were the parents of five children. Valentine's daughter Elizabeth Ann, born in 1923, married Max Van Reese. They reportedly had eight children but their names are not known.
Rosella Benoit married Beach Roher in Fort Dodge. They were known to have had a daughter, Beverly, who married Bernard Whitten, who was with a labor union in Fort Dodge. Florence Benoit married Thomas Enright. They had two children, Mary born about 1910, and Thomas born in 1912. John, the youngest of the four children of Valentine and Hanna Benoit, married Irene Larson. They settled in Eagle Grove, Iowa and had no children.
