Anne taught for a time in country schools in Serena and Northville Townships. When her parents retired from the farm in 1920, she moved with them to Somonauk purchasing a home on Washington Street. In 1923 she accepted a position to teach 3rd and 4th grades in Somonauk. She was forced to retire in 1939 because of poor health.

Anne was devoted to her brothers and sisters and their families and her home in Somonauk became the center of activity when they returned to the area. She was an active member of St. John The Baptist Church singing in the choir and participating in other activities. She died at her home in Somonauk of a cerebral hemorrhage on January 4, 1948. She is buried next to her parents in St. John The Baptist Cemetery in Somonauk.
