Elizabeth Dontenville, the sixth child born to Nicolas Dontenville and Philomena Kleinprintz, was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 13, 1895. She was the third of their children born in the United States. Not much is known of her early life. In June of 1918 she married Louis Hartig and they began their life together in Brooklyn where their first two children were born, Raymond in 1921 and Ruth in 1923.
In the late 1920's Elizabeth and her family moved to Tacoma Park Maryland where they lived with Louis' parents, Fredrich and Minnie Hartig. Louis was employed as an architect with the U. S. Census Department at the time. Their third child, Richard was born in Tacoma Park in 1930. Louis Hartig later became a surveyor for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He remained with the Railroad until retirement. Elizabeth died in Tacoma Park on September 18, 1972 and Louis on January 29, 1975.
