Louis Dondanville, the seventh of eight children of Emile Dondanville and Marie Schumacher, was born in San Gabriel, California, February 7, 1901.He was baptized John Louis at San Gabriel Mission, on June 16, 1901. As a youth he often worked with his brothers Joe and Ed at their garage across the street from the Dondanville home.. He completed his formal schooling in San Gabriel and found employment as an auto mechanic with T. Lyell Puckett Ford.
Norma Mae Boe, the daughter of Walter Boe and Laura Steckel, was born in New Jersey, November 17, 1902. Shortly after her arrival in California, in the early 1920s, she met Louie Dondanville. They were married on Norma's birthday, November 17, 1923, at San Gabriel Mission. They established their home at 415 Date Street in Alhambra. In 1924 Louie left Puckett Ford to join Jessie Ellico Ford as service manager. He would later move from the service department and go into sales.
Louie and Norma's first child, Ardith Mae was born in Monterey Park on January 26, 1930. Their son, Norman Louis, was born November 9, 1934. Both children attended Emery Park Elementary School and Alhambra High School. Both children were married in the early 1950s. Louie and Norma moved from the house on Date Street to 1705 South Edgewood Drive in Alhambra.
Louie retired from Ellico Ford in 1966 after a life time in automotive sales and service. He died in Alhambra on September 23, 1969. Norma died April 27, 1973.
267.1 Ardith Mae Dondanville, 1930 -
born January 26, 1930, in Monterey Park, California, married John Todd Jr. in Arcadia, California, January 30, 1953. Two children: Debra Ann, '59; and Kevin John, '61. Jack Todd died in 1997. Ardith continues to live in the home in West Covina they bought in 1954.
267.2 Norman Louis Dondanville, 1934 -
born November 9, 1934 in Monterey Park, California, married Barbara Jean Myers June 13, 1954. Three sons: Gary Louis', 55; Craig , '57; and Michael Scott , '60. Moved to Corona Del Mar in 1978, and to a new home in Newport Beach in 1999.
