EMIL DONTENVILLE (1917 - 1995)
MARGUERITE BUTTY (1926 - )
Emil Dontenville, the only child of Nicolas Emil Dontenville and Mary Gigler, was born March 16, 1917 in Killingworth, Connecticut. His father died when he was three and his mother married Steve Gazdik. He was raised by his mother and stepfather and assumed the name Gazdik.
In the early 1930s, before he finished high school, Emil joined the Merchant Marine. He served through World War II. In 1949 he met Marguerite Butty in France. They were married in London on March 1 1951. Marguerite moved to New York City, were Emil's mother was living at the time. Their first son, Bernard Joseph, was born in New York City on May 15 1952.
A shipmate of Emil's left the Merchant Marines and went to work for Jones & Laughlin Steel Company in Cleveland in the early 1950's. He convinced Emil to leave the service and move to Cleveland. Emil learned the trade of electrician and went to work for Jones & Laughlin. A second son, Emil Gene, was born in Cleveland October 25, 1953. The births of both of the boys had been registered under the family name Gazdik. Emil eventually petitioned to change their family name to Dontenville.
Two additional children were born to the marriage of Emil Dontenville and Marguerite Butty. A third son Marc Charles was born August 1, 1960 and a daughter Anne Marie on November 15, 1964. Emil retired from Jones & Laughlin in 1983 following 30 years of service. He died in Cleveland on May 4, 1995.Marguerite continues to live there in 2004.

married Joanne Santore in July 1980. One daughter: Kristen Amy, born May 4, 1990. They divorced in October 1994. Bernie works in the business office of University Hospital in Cleveland.
571.2 Emil Gene Dontenville., 1953-
lives in Strongsville, Ohio. Married Pokhee Kwon in Inchon, Korea, January 23, 1986. Two children: Paul Emil, born January 23, 1986 and Sara Isabel born January 9, 1990.
571.3 Marc Charles Dontenville., 1960-
works as a machinist. He is not married.
571.4 Anne Marie Dontenville., 1964-
married Terry Hunter May 15, 1993. They live in Westlake, Ohio. They have no children. Terry is an elevator mechanic at University Hospital in Cleveland.
