Mary, the third of five children of Felix Dondeville and Margaret Schmidt, was born in St. Louis, Missouri, July 18, 1860. Mary Dondeville married Paul A. Schaaf a carpenter and furniture finisher. The date of that marriage is not known but it was likely about 1885. The 1910 Census recorded the family with seven children, six still living: Paul, age 24; Maud, 22; Henry, 20; Carl, 17; Dorothy, 13; and Katherine, age 8. Mary died in 1918 at age 54. The 1920 census records Paul living on Shaw Avenue in St. Louis with Henry, Dorothy, and Katherine still living at home. Sometime after 1920 Schaaf married Caroline Sippel who may have had children from an earlier marriage. Paul Schaaf died in St. Louis on June 25, 1952.
