PHILOMENA DONTANVILLE (1891 - 1964)
PETER PAUL FISCHER (1888 - 1960)
Philomena Dontanville, affectionately known as Minnie, was sixth of the seven children of Wallace Dontanville and Josephine Elbert. She was born in Pasadena February 16, 1891. Minnie grew up in the Dontanville home at the foot of Lester Avenue in Arroyo Seco. She attended St. Andrews School. On October 13, 1913 Minnie was married to Peter Paul Fischer in St. Andrew's Church.

Peter Paul Fischer was born in Bernweiler, Alsace June 3, 1888. He was one of the youngest of the twelve children of Ignatius Fischer and Mary Anna Lorentz. In early 1891, his parents immigrated to the United States with their seven surviving children. They arrived at the Port of New York in May and continued to Rochester, New York. The family moved to Nekoosa, Wisconsin in December 1902, and to Los Angelis in March 1904. Paul found work as a clerk with the Southern Pacific Railroad and met Minnie Dontanville.

Paul and Minnie were married in St. Andrew's Church in Pasadena on October 15, 1913. They built a home on Lester Avenue in Pasadena, across the road from the home of Minnie's parents. Paul's father had died in January 1913. Some time later his mother moved into Paul and Minnie's home on Lester Avenue. She died there in 1921.

Three children blessed the marriage of Paul and Minnie. Paul Wallace was born July 16, 1916, Marjorie Josephine on July 11, 1920, and Dorothy Marie January 18, 1924. Following Dorothy's birth the family moved to a home on Glenarm Street in the south part of Pasadena. In 1997 their granddaughter Diane Marie Siens wrote: "As a child, I can remember spending lots of time at my grandmother's house on Glenarm Street, our weekly trips to the grocery store and Sunday chicken dinners, with all the aunts and uncles and cousins. We had lots of fun at my grandmother's. I can recall the wonderful aromas of the house and yard."

Peter Paul Fischer died in Pasadena in November 1960. Minnie continued to live at 118 West Glenarm Street until her death on December 16, 1964. Both are buried in Resurrection Cemetery in San Gabriel.
